Geoffroy Van der Hasselt took his first steps into a darkroom at the age of 15, during his studies in fine arts. From there, he was hooked. Even though he spent several years at the auditoires de journalisme at the Université libre de Bruxelles, his cameras were what truly fascinated him.

Every moment and everything around him needed to be shot, and the photographs were ever more precise and ever more refined. An innumerable quantity of hard disks are not enough to store all the trophies he has brought home from his numerous journeys.

Inevitably, Geoff started studying photography in 2008. By this time he had already chosen to specialise in a field he is passionate about: the reportage.

From concerts to family parties, and taking in current events, Geoffroy never compromises. What unfolds before his lens is digested in all of its complexity, and is served up to us as photos. Left to sweat, search and re-take each photo 10 times. And there is the result. Geoffroy’s reportages always tell us a story, each photo, a vector of added value, attaching to a storyline he intends to deliver to us.

In 2010 he began to work for a Belgian newspaper covering local and national news.

Between 2010 and 2013, as part of the Press service of the agency 'Reporters' he covered politics, royalty, and European institutions.

Following this, a London-based agency sent him to the Caribbean for winter and to Saint-Tropez for summer to photograph celebrities.

At the end of 2014 Geoffroy joined the Paris team of the national Turkish news agency Anadolu and since the end of 2015 he is a stringer for EPA and AFP focusing on French politics, daily news, sport events and international affairs. Freelance photojournalist and sport photographer (French press card n°MAE 8597, International press card n°BE2817 and Sport Press Card n°IDF5988) his news reports have appeared in publications including The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, Daily Mail, The Guardian, International Business Times, Bloomberg, Slate, Paris Match, l'Obs, le Point, le Figaro, VSD, l'Express, le Parisien, 20 minutes, le Monde, l'indépendant, Geo Magazine, Al Jazeera, Die ZEIT, and many more.
